Celebrate Easter in Gilbert, Arizona
It is springtime in Arizona. Warm, sunny weather calls out for locals to enjoy outdoor activities. Those local to Arizona know to get outside and enjoy the fabulous spring weather before the summer heat means the only outdoor activity is swimming. This weekend is the Easter holiday and from religious programs to egg hunts here are some great ways to celebrate Easter in Gilbert, Arizona.Mother Nature’s Farm, Gilbert, AZ
Easter at Mother Nature’s Farm includes (for children) an egg hunt, a bag of candy, face painting, hayride, air bounce, farm animals and plenty of fresh air and space to run around and play. Fun starts at 9:30 a.m. with egg hunts (children will be grouped by ages) running from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is $5 for children and $2 for adults. Opportunities for photos taken by the old tractor with Peter Cottontail; foods like snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn; and food carts with lunch items to enjoy a family picnic will all be available for additional fees.
Easter Eggstravaganza in Gilbert, Arizona
Easter Eggstravaganza! is a FREE event for families and includes an egg hunt (with over 10,000 eggs!!), FREE pictures with the Easter bunny, and FREE food and drinks. Additionally there will be a chance to win an iPod, inflatables, face painting, and a variety of other activities. This event is set to go rain or shine (if it rains it will be indoors) at the Chandler Traditional Academy (don’t let the name fool you . . . it is located on South Joslyn Lane in Gilbert). Though the event is being presented by the Life Link Church, you do not have to be a member or attend services at the Church to participate in this FREE event in Gilbert, Arizona.
Riparian Reserve, Gilbert, AZ
Those just wanting to enjoy the outdoors over Easter weekend will find much to do at the Riparian Reserve in Gilbert, Arizona on Saturday, April 3, 2010. Volunteers can work in the Preserve’s habitat gardens with the resident plant biologist at 8 a.m. (registration required) and take a tour of the gardens led by the Preserve’s plant biologist at 8:30 a.m. ($2 donation suggested). Also at 8:30 a.m. intermediate bird watchers can take a bird walk with naturalist Scott Cleaves for $5. At 10 a.m. a Riparian Preserve docent will lead a guided tour of the Riparian Preserve ($2).
Cerreta Candy Company, Gilbert, AZ
For children (and adults) Easter is often synonymous with candy or more specifically chocolate. Gilbert, Arizona is home to a truly one-of-a-kind candy (and chocolate) company, the Cerreta Candy Company. The Cerreta Candy Company has been in business for close to 30 years, and is a family business passed down through the generations. Gilbert locals can visit and even take a FREE tour of the chocolate factory of this nationally recognized Candy Company.
